This report is intended to stimulate a scholarly exchange between interested readers of the JLH and researchers. If you are working on such a project, please contact the editor: Dr. Daniela Wissemann-Garbe, daniela.wissemann@posteo.de
Current – HSUSC History Stimulus Programm
Over the past decades, six meetings have been held jointly with our sister societies, The Hymn Society of Great Britain and Ireland and The Hymn Society in the United States and Canada. On the occasion of their 100th anniversary, the latter is calling for memories of joint meetings to be added to its history. Please send your memories to Margaret Leask (dmleask@gmail.com) or Paul Richardson (parichar@samford.edu).

What is hymnology?
Hymnology is the scholarly engagement with the church’s song, hymns, and hymnbooks. To engage with the diverse aspects of these subjects, hymnology uses the methods of related academic disciplines, including theology (with its subdisciplines), music and church music, history, literature, linguistics, culture studies, bibliography, aesthetics and poetics, psychology, sociology, and anthropology. Hymnological studies can be empirical, historical, or systematic.
