These annual, one-day get-togethers go back to the “IAH / GDR meetings” (IAH-Treffen/DDR), which were held since the mid-1970s, first in East Berlin, then in Leipzig, and finally in Magdeburg. During the GDR era, because of the travel restrictions, they served to distribute more widely lectures and discussions from the international IAH conferences. Participants also gave an overview of their own hymnological research. As a result, the tradition emerged that the meetings were shaped primarily through contributions from participants. After the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, the IAH Days continued as a forum for academic exchange. IAH members from western Germany also increasingly took part. Since then, the gatherings have developed into a German-language regional IAH gathering that meets in Halle/Saale. The tried and tested participant-centered agenda was retained.
The invitation to the IAH Day includes a request for contributions (20 minutes plus 10 minutes of discussion) or short contributions (10 minutes plus 5 minutes for queries) so that an agenda can be drawn up. Of course, it is also possible to participate without making a presentation.
IAH Day 2025
The next IAH day will take place on Thursday, February 20, 2025 and is being organized by Dr. Daniela Wissemann-Garbe. It will take place in purely digital form via Zoom, probably from 14:00 – 18:00.
As always, you are cordially invited to register your own contributions. We look forward to receiving reports from your research projects and your practical work. If you would like to make a contribution, please state the topic and the estimated time required. Then we can better plan the agenda. We will make sure to have a quarter of an hour break.
Registration: Dr. Daniela Wissemann-Garbe, daniela.wissemann@posteo.de
