Extraordinary Conference 2022 in Mainz (DE)

The societal relevance of hymnody
Kirchenlieder in den Krisen der Gegenwart
Salmens samfunnsrelevans

Due to the current travel difficulties, the IAH Board decided at its meeting on 23 August 2021 to hold a smaller, extraordinary meeting in continental Europe in addition to the Joint conference in Washington DC in 2022. This is not least in order to be able to hold the General Assembly with a representative number of members and also to offer those who cannot fly to the USA for various reasons an alternative this year.

Date and programme outline

The meeting will take place on Thursday 8 September (from approx. 14:30) and Friday 9 September 2022 (until approx. 16:00) in the premises of the Catholic Faculty of Theology in Mainz.

The conference programme includes one or two main papers, sectionals, services and a cultural programme. In addition, the next regular Gerenal Assembly is scheduled, which we will hold hybrid (i.e. with members on site as well as virtually connected).

Call for papers

We are pleased to call on all interested parties to submit section papers, preferably on the above topic: Please contact the IAH Office if you are interested. Section papers will have a maximum of 30 minutes each for presentation and subsequent discussion. Section papers will be given in German or English and will not be translated.

Detailed information and registration

Details of the programme and registration will be announced in the early months of next year.
