Saturday, August 3: Gräfenhainichen and Wittenberg

Bus ride (approx. 9 am) to Gräfenhainichen, the birthplace of Paul Gerhardt. Visit of the Paul-Gerhardt-Kapelle, devotion and presentation of the short film “Paul-Gerhardt-Liedersingen mit Kindern”, which documents a project taking place in May 2019. Afterwards city tour (St. Marien church, Paul-Gerhardt-Gemeindehaus) and lunch on site. Continue to Wittenberg. City tour (Luther courtyard and external visit of the Augusteum and Augustinian monastery, Cranach courtyards, city church, market square with Luther monument). Then organ music and singing of Luther hymns in the Schlosskirche (Ladegast organ) with Prof. Dr. Konrad Klek. Closing in Leucorea with a lecture by the managing director of the Leucorea Foundation, Dr. Marianne Schröter, on Wittenberg and its university in the Reformation era. Dinner expected in Wittenberg. Return journey to Halle (arrival approx. 21 o’clock).

Sunday, August 4: Weißenfels, Naumburg, Freyburg an der Unstrut

Bus ride (approx. 8.30 a.m.) to Weißenfels. Visit of the Lutheran mass in the castle church St. Trinitatis; alternatively look around in Weißenfels. Afterwards guided tour in the Heinrich-Schütz-Haus with its scientific collaborator, Dr. Maik Richter, and lunch in Weißenfels. Continue to Naumburg. Visit of the city church St. Wenceslas and its organ (appraised by Bach) with organ music; further on foot to the cathedral (individual visit). Continue via Schulpforta to Freyburg an der Unstrut for a wine tasting with dinner. Return journey to Halle (arrival approx. 22 o’clock).
